BLANDY’S – BLANDY’S VERDELHO COLHEITA 1998

Notes de dégustation: robe ambrée. Nez de marmelade amère, de fruits secs et d’épices. En bouche c’est l’acidité qui marque le vin avec une intensité et une persistance remarquable et les saveurs sont sur la confiture d’orange acidulée et le miel. Ce Colheita est plus approchable que le Frasqueira 1988 car son acidité est plus basse, ce qui ravira les amateurs mais sans doute pas les puristes de ce cépage.

I actually prefer the 1998 Verdelho Colheita, also bottled in 2013. I find it has more definition on the nose compared to the Sercial, with scents of Satsuma, Chinese five-spice, ground ginger and cumin. The aromatics are gentle, but nicely focused. The palate has a light viscosity on the entry and unfolds beautifully in the mouth, the finish brimming over with grilled hazelnuts, smoke and ginger, hints of marmalade and bitter orange developing later.
