MOUCHÃO – HERDADE DO MOUCHÃO DOM RAFAEL 2013
VIN : HERDADE DO MOUCHÃO DOM RAFAEL 2013 |
The 2013 Tinto Dom Rafael is a blend of 60% Aragonez, 20% Trincadeira and 20% Alicante Bouschet, aged for 12 months in oak. It comes in at 13% alcohol. For the bargain level here, this is quite fine. There isn’t a lot of flesh or the concentration that the upper levels project, but it has very good structure and respectable depth for its level, plus some grip on the finish. Then, it adds intensity of fruit flavor. The fruit is very tasty, but also nicely supported by its structure. The tannins will fall off quickly, though, and this should be easily approachable when this tasting note is published. This is a terrific value and a great choice for an affordable house pour. How long it stays at peak is quite another question, to be sure, but drink it now and over the next few years and you’ll think you got a pretty nice deal. Robert Parker. The Wine Advocate. 89/100
