Similar to the 2013, the 2013 Las 3 Marias Vineyards is produced with fruit from Maipo Andes; but in this vintage that was much more heterogeneous, the total maceration time was much shorter, — 45 days in total between the pre-fermentative cold soak and the post-fermentative maceration at some 25 degrees Celsius to achieve a good extraction of the compounds found in the skin of the grapes. This is still a baby, with all the components to make a great bottle of Maipo Cabernet in a few years in bottle. There are classical aromas of the variety and the zone, with poise and balance. This will be an elegant and powerful Cabernet. The wine matured in brand new French barriques for 22 months; Gandolini searches for very fine-grained oak, as he feels the wines from Chile benefit from that, as they are more powerful than the wines from Mèdoc. This is vibrant, lively and it dances on your tongue; it’s incredibly balanced with refined, ultra-fine tannins and very good acidity. This is great Maipo Cabernet. Bravo! 47,188 bottles were filled in February 2015. Robert Parker. The Wine Advocate. 93/100
