On November 19, in Margaret River, Western Australia, the wine world gathered to celebrate global wine tourism excellence at the awards ceremony for The World’s 50 Best Vineyards. At the top of the podium stands Vik, a Chilean estate in the Millahue Valley, which claims the title of The World’s Best Vineyard 2025 and The Best Vineyard in South America.
Founded in 2006 by Alexander and Carrie Vik, the Chilean estate is a model of innovation and luxury. Perched on a hill overlooking the Andes, it spans a 4,450-hectare nature reserve, with 327 hectares dedicated to vineyards spread across 12 distinct microclimates. Its futuristic architecture, featuring a floating bronze-titanium roof inspired by Frank Gehry and Richard Serra, blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, offering guests a unique experience. Interactive tastings, fine dining at the Milla Milla restaurant, and exclusive stays in 22 themed rooms or seven private bungalows complete the offering, alongside outdoor activities such as trekking and horseback riding.
As William Drew, Director of Content for The World’s 50 Best Vineyards, emphasizes:
“This year’s list celebrates the diversity and innovation of vineyards that define the global wine scene. Vik has masterfully combined design, landscape, and immersive experiences in an extraordinary way.”
In second place behind Vik is Schloss Johannisberg in Rheingau, Germany, awarded The Best Vineyard in Europe. With over 1,200 years of history, it is considered the world’s first Riesling winery and offers guided tours through historic vineyards and the famous underground cellar, the “Bibliotheca Subterranea.” Also on the podium is Bodegas Ysios (Rioja, Spain), while the Highest Climber Award goes to South Africa’s Klein Constantia Wine Estate (No.6), renowned for its Vin de Constance and panoramic vineyard experiences.
Regional winners include Jordan Vineyard & Winery (Alexander Valley, USA) as the best in North America, 98Wines (Yamanashi, Japan) for Asia, and Cloudy Bay Vineyards (Marlborough, New Zealand) for Australasia. Also noteworthy is Aperture Cellars (Sonoma, USA), which earned the Highest New Entry Award thanks to its “Site Series” experience.

But the Bel Paese also shines in the Top 100, with six wineries overall: three new entries and three re-entries. New entries include Azienda Agricola Arianna Occhipinti (Sicily, No.78), Masi Agricola (Veneto, No.83), and Casanova Di Neri (Tuscany, No.87). Returning to the ranking are Castello Banfi (Tuscany, No.61), Marchesi di Barolo (Piedmont, No.80), and Tenuta Cavalier Pepe (Irpinia, No.81). A strong signal of Italy’s ability to combine tradition, innovation, and hospitality in a global context that rewards immersive experiences and absolute quality.
